Rare Method Leads the Way in E-Tourism

CALGARY January 18 /CNW/ – Rare Method Interactive Corp. ("Rare Method") (TSX Venture Exchange, Tier 1 listed under symbol RAM), and their premier tourism client, Travel Alberta, have been recognized as leaders in e-tourism. At the first ever Canadian e-tourism awards, Travel Alberta’s online programs received a Gold Medal for their Online Marketing Campaign in the Public Sector category and a Platinum Medal for the best overall online marketing campaign which included Large Private Sector, Public Sector and Small Private Sector.

“We are exceptionally proud of this accomplishment as this validates our efforts” comments Tom Short, President of Rare Method, “we have been working with Travel Alberta for several years with one goal in mind, to lead the way in online marketing for tourism.”

The campaign focused on SkiCanadianRockies.com, the website developed for skiers and snowboarders in Ontario, New York, California and Texas planning vacations in Alberta during the 2006-07 winter season. The site and online banner advertising featured digital “hosts,” who provided interactive dialogue with visitors. Social websites, including MySpace, YouTube and Flickr, were utilized to create awareness.

The six-month campaign more than doubled the targeted increase in click-throughs to partner web packages and generated a 126 per cent increase in sign-ups for Travel Alberta’s e-newsletter.
